Chinaberry berries (yellow)
Each golden drumstick is a tight ball of dozens of tiny flowers, and it keeps its color for ages once dried.
These cheerful spheres stand for good health and lasting cheer.

Printed and framed to order, ready to hang when it arrives. Printed on premium luster paper with rich color and fine detail, protected behind a clear acrylic front, and set in a solid wood frame: White (gallery white), Black (matte black) or Red Oak (warm wood).
Printed to order on thick matte paper, shipped rolled for your own frame. We use 189 gsm (10.3 mil) matte paper with a smooth, glare-free finish and archival inks. It ships rolled in a sturdy cardboard tube, may hold a slight curl, and flattens overnight under a book. It fits any standard frame of that size. Prefer it framed? Choose Framed above for a solid wood frame in White, Black or Red Oak.
Available in 10″×8″ and 20″×16″.
Hanging hardware is included. These measurements refer to the print size. The wood frame adds about 0.75″ on each side, so the framed piece is roughly 1.5″ wider and taller than the print.
For unframed prints, the selected size is the paper size and fits a standard frame of that size. A frame adds about 1 inch on each side.
“Every leaf, twig, petal, and seed becomes a brushstroke.”
Fresh green pine needles caught my attention on one of my walks. I played with them, twisted them in my hands, and instantly knew they would become the hair of this young woman in Half Moon Pose.
Sometimes a single natural element already holds the idea for an entire artwork. You simply have to see what it wants to become. She found her balance on my worktable, and now she holds it beautifully on a wall, bringing a moment of steadiness to the room around her.

The Botanicals Behind the Artwork
Shirley arranged each leaf, pod, stem, and natural fiber by hand before photographing the finished composition.
Each golden drumstick is a tight ball of dozens of tiny flowers, and it keeps its color for ages once dried.
These cheerful spheres stand for good health and lasting cheer.
The long spike in the center of a hibiscus flower holds its pollen and its five fuzzy stigma tips together on one column.
Orange hibiscus means joy, warmth, and sunny courage.
Pine needles are leaves rolled into slim spears, a shape that hoards water through dry spells and frost.
Evergreen needles stand for endurance and steadfast life.
A drying leaf stiffens as its water leaves and its cell walls lock into place.
Fallen leaves speak of change and graceful transition.
A single sunflower head can hold well over a thousand seeds, all arranged in tidy spirals that follow a maths pattern.
Seeds symbolize potential, nourishment, and hope.
Yellow is one of the first colors bees notice, so many meadow flowers wear it to get spotted.
Yellow flowers mean friendship and sunny optimism.
