The folded straw body is rest after harvest.

Available in 8″×10″ and 16″×20″. Hanging hardware is included.
These measurements refer to the print size. The wood frame adds about 0.75″ on each side, so the framed piece is roughly 1.5″ wider and taller than the print.

“Every leaf, twig, petal, and seed becomes a brushstroke.”
The forward fold is one of my favorite yoga poses. The back goes quiet and open, the legs stay steady, a pose of gathering inward and calm. The extra touches are for Halloween coming closer, and the calm is not disturbed by a few spiders wandering nearby.

The Botanicals Behind the Artwork
Shirley arranged each leaf, pod, stem, and natural fiber by hand before photographing the finished composition.
Straw is a grass stem emptied of its grain, hollow and light but surprisingly hard to break.
The folded straw body is rest after harvest.
Marigold petals hold a pigment so strong it is used to deepen the gold of egg yolks and fabrics.
Marigold gold is warmth poured out freely.
Citrus peel is dotted with oil glands; dried, it keeps both its color and a faint perfume.
The little pumpkin is the season arriving quietly.
Each spider here is a dark seed with legs of fine stem, seeds already built for wandering.
The wandering spiders are guests who do not disturb.
Winged seed pods spin like rotor blades as they fall, gliding far from the parent tree.
The passing bird is the world going on, peacefully.
Pale petals stay visible at dusk longer than bright ones, a lantern for late pollinators.
One pale bloom is a small light kept on.
