Printed and framed to order, ready to hang when it arrives. Printed on premium luster paper with rich color and fine detail, protected behind a clear acrylic front, and set in a solid wood frame: White (gallery white), Black (matte black) or Red Oak (warm wood).
Printed to order on thick matte paper, shipped rolled for your own frame. We use 189 gsm (10.3 mil) matte paper with a smooth, glare-free finish and archival inks. It ships rolled in a sturdy cardboard tube, may hold a slight curl, and flattens overnight under a book. It fits any standard frame of that size. Prefer it framed? Choose Framed above for a solid wood frame in White, Black or Red Oak.
Available in 8″×10″ and 16″×20″.
Hanging hardware is included. These measurements refer to the print size. The wood frame adds about 0.75″ on each side, so the framed piece is roughly 1.5″ wider and taller than the print.
For unframed prints, the selected size is the paper size and fits a standard frame of that size. A frame adds about 1 inch on each side.
“Every leaf, twig, petal, and seed becomes a brushstroke.”
Another day began with a morning walk with my dog. The wind was unusually strong that day, and the needles of the Canary Island pine seemed to beckon to me from the ground. It felt as though the wind itself had inspired this portrait of a wild lady, her windswept hair and free spirit shaped by nature's touch.
I composed her by hand from what that windy morning left for me. Now she carries that free morning air with her, ready to bring a little wildness and calm to the wall she lives on.

The Botanicals Behind the Artwork
Shirley arranged each leaf, pod, stem, and natural fiber by hand before photographing the finished composition.
Ornamental grass plumes are made of countless tiny seeds, each with a fluffy parachute for the wind.
Feathery grass plumes symbolize lightness, freedom and going with the wind.
Persimmon leaves glow orange and red in autumn and often fall away while bright fruit still hangs on the bare branches.
Turning persimmon leaves stand for patience and the sweetness that comes with time.
Yellow is the most common flower color on earth because insects spot it easily against green.
Yellow petals mean joy, friendship and warm bright feeling.
A single blade of grass can slice skin because its edges are lined with microscopic silica teeth.
Slender stems symbolize simplicity and quiet, understated poise.
