Long green seed pods (the palm fronds)
Some seed pods stay green and leathery for weeks, quietly fattening the seeds inside before they dry.
Seed pods stand for potential and the patient promise of new life.

Printed and framed to order, ready to hang when it arrives. Printed on premium luster paper with rich color and fine detail, protected behind a clear acrylic front, and set in a solid wood frame: White (gallery white), Black (matte black) or Red Oak (warm wood).
Printed to order on thick matte paper, shipped rolled for your own frame. We use 189 gsm (10.3 mil) matte paper with a smooth, glare-free finish and archival inks. It ships rolled in a sturdy cardboard tube, may hold a slight curl, and flattens overnight under a book. It fits any standard frame of that size. Prefer it framed? Choose Framed above for a solid wood frame in White, Black or Red Oak.
Available in 10″×10″ and 16″×16″.
Hanging hardware is included. These measurements refer to the print size. The wood frame adds about 0.75″ on each side, so the framed piece is roughly 1.5″ wider and taller than the print.
For unframed prints, the selected size is the paper size and fits a standard frame of that size. A frame adds about 1 inch on each side.
“Every leaf, twig, petal, and seed becomes a brushstroke.”
As a child, I always preferred to be outdoors. Back then we made our own kites from paper and thin wooden sticks, and it was one of my favorite things to do. When I started creating my child figures, I realized that somewhere inside them there is a little bit of the child I once was.
My memories, my experiences, and the simple joys of the past keep finding their way into the characters I create. This piece carries that feeling of a kite pulling at the string, and I love the thought of it lifting a child's room, or any room, with the same light freedom.

The Botanicals Behind the Artwork
Shirley arranged each leaf, pod, stem, and natural fiber by hand before photographing the finished composition.
Some seed pods stay green and leathery for weeks, quietly fattening the seeds inside before they dry.
Seed pods stand for potential and the patient promise of new life.
Bark is a tree's armor, constantly renewing from the inside to seal off scrapes and pests.
A sturdy trunk symbolizes strength, grounding and steady support.
Nasturtium flowers and leaves are peppery enough to spice a salad like garden-grown wasabi.
Bright orange blooms mean warmth, energy and playful confidence.
California poppies fold their petals shut at night and on cloudy days like tiny solar umbrellas.
Golden poppies symbolize success, sunshine and quiet contentment.
White petals often carry faint ultraviolet patterns that guide bees straight to the nectar, invisible to us.
White blooms stand for innocence, lightness and new beginnings.
Lichen is really two life forms in one, a fungus and an alga living as roommates that feed each other.
Moss and lichen symbolize patience, endurance and slow steady growth.
Purple petals get their color from the same pigment family that reddens autumn leaves and blueberries.
Small purple blooms suggest grace, dignity and free-spirited flight.
