Printed and framed to order, ready to hang when it arrives. Printed on premium luster paper with rich color and fine detail, protected behind a clear acrylic front, and set in a solid wood frame: White (gallery white), Black (matte black) or Red Oak (warm wood).
Printed to order on thick matte paper, shipped rolled for your own frame. We use 189 gsm (10.3 mil) matte paper with a smooth, glare-free finish and archival inks. It ships rolled in a sturdy cardboard tube, may hold a slight curl, and flattens overnight under a book. It fits any standard frame of that size. Prefer it framed? Choose Framed above for a solid wood frame in White, Black or Red Oak.
Available in 8″×10″ and 16″×20″.
Hanging hardware is included. These measurements refer to the print size. The wood frame adds about 0.75″ on each side, so the framed piece is roughly 1.5″ wider and taller than the print.
For unframed prints, the selected size is the paper size and fits a standard frame of that size. A frame adds about 1 inch on each side.
“Every leaf, twig, petal, and seed becomes a brushstroke.”
I was walking past a banana plantation and saw young branches that had been pruned. The banana, in all its parts, is a wonderful material, and my imagination carried me in all kinds of directions. One of them became this field girl with a skirt made of bananas.

The Botanicals Behind the Artwork
Shirley arranged each leaf, pod, stem, and natural fiber by hand before photographing the finished composition.
Banana plants are large herbs, and their fruit grows in clustered hands.
Playful green strands bring a feeling of youth and movement.
The floss tree (Ceiba speciosa) opens large pink flowers and later forms pods with fine fibers around its seeds.
The bright blouse suggests confidence, softness, and joy.
Bananas continue to ripen after harvest because they produce ethylene gas.
The full skirt feels abundant, cheerful, and ready to dance.
Indian coral tree bears vivid red flowers that are especially attractive to nectar-feeding birds.
The red blossoms add festive energy and a warm heartbeat.
Many eucalyptus trees shed their outer bark in ribbons or strips as they grow.
The outstretched arms give the dancer grace and openness.
Eucalyptus bark can vary from smooth and pale to fibrous, rough, or deeply textured.
The bark legs ground the little dancer with natural strength.
