The Story Behind the Artwork
“Every leaf, twig, petal, and seed becomes a brushstroke.”
For three years I volunteered in a therapeutic community garden in a large nature park, where people from diverse backgrounds and with special needs grew vegetables, herbs, and flowers together. At the end of one winter season, while clearing a bed for new planting, I gently lifted a celery plant from the soil, its roots still covered with earth. I paused. In that moment I saw the face of a woman emerging from the roots and soil.
I carefully brought the celery home and created her portrait from the roots, the earth, and other natural elements. For me she is a symbol of growth, resilience, and new beginnings. My own creative dream waited underground for years too. She brings that quiet promise into every home she joins.
