Printed on premium luster paper with rich color and fine detail, protected behind a clear acrylic front, and set in a wood frame. Choose White, Black, or Red Oak.

The Story Behind the Artwork
“Every leaf, twig, petal, and seed becomes a brushstroke.”
The sweetness and playful shapes of the fruits brought back the feeling of childhood freedom, the joy, the movement, and the excitement of riding a bicycle with the wind along the way.
I composed this piece by hand from those finds, letting them pedal their way into a small story. It carries the kind of lightness I wish for every home, a reminder on the wall that freedom can be as simple as a ride with the wind at your back.

Shirley arranged each leaf, pod, stem, and natural fiber by hand before photographing the finished composition.
Cherries or red radishes (the wheel hubs)
Cherries grow in pairs on a shared stem so often that two-on-one is almost their signature pose.
A pair of cherries symbolizes sweetness, romance and good luck in twos.
Garlic bulb (the seat)
One garlic bulb is a whole family of cloves, each able to grow into a brand new plant.
Garlic has long been a charm for protection and warding off bad luck.
Daylily petals (the golden hair)
A daylily flower opens at dawn and is spent by dusk, cramming its whole life into one day.
Daylilies mean cherishing the fleeting beauty of a single day.
Green stems (the bicycle frame)
Hollow plant stems are surprisingly strong for their weight, the same trick engineers use for scaffolding.
Upright stems stand for support, structure and quiet strength.
Vanilla pod (the ground line)
Vanilla comes from an orchid and each flower must be hand-pollinated within hours or it is lost.
Vanilla symbolizes warmth, comfort and simple lasting pleasure.
Dried garlic skin (the blouse)
White flowers glow at dusk to catch the eye of night pollinators when color no longer reads.
White blooms carry a message of purity and fresh starts.
