Materials & framing
Printed and framed to order, ready to hang when it arrives. Printed on premium luster paper with rich color and fine detail, protected behind a clear acrylic front, and set in a solid wood frame: White (gallery white), Black (matte black) or Red Oak (warm wood).
Printed to order on thick matte paper, shipped rolled for your own frame. We use 189 gsm (10.3 mil) matte paper with a smooth, glare-free finish and archival inks. It ships rolled in a sturdy cardboard tube, may hold a slight curl, and flattens overnight under a book. It fits any standard frame of that size. Prefer it framed? Choose Framed above for a solid wood frame in White, Black or Red Oak.
Size & fit
Available in 8″×10″ and 16″×20″.
Hanging hardware is included. These measurements refer to the print size. The wood frame adds about 0.75″ on each side, so the framed piece is roughly 1.5″ wider and taller than the print.
For unframed prints, the selected size is the paper size and fits a standard frame of that size. A frame adds about 1 inch on each side.
The Story Behind the Artwork
“Every leaf, twig, petal, and seed becomes a brushstroke.”
There is a Hebrew expression, a cabbage head. This time a single leaf claimed the place of the hat instead. I took that leaf from a cabbage I had bought for a meal. A moment before it became chopped cabbage, it reminded me how I have always been charmed by women who wear hats.
There is something about them that tells a story, adds presence, creates a character. So the cabbage leaf became part of a hat, and what had been part of an everyday vegetable received new life in a portrait. Sometimes all it takes is a different way of looking. I love imagining her doing the same in someone's home, quietly adding character to the room.

Red cabbage leaf (the hat brim)
The blotchy patterns on an aging leaf are pigments and fungi forming a slow watercolor as it breaks down.

Cherry plum blossoms

Chinese flame tree pod (the lips)
Petals are really specialized leaves that traded chlorophyll for bright pigments to flag down pollinators.
A single soft petal speaks of tenderness.
Large ficus leaf (the bottom)
A brown leaf has drained its useful nutrients back into the plant, leaving mostly the sturdy vein skeleton behind.
The fallen leaf represents release and rest.
Green leaves
Green is simply the light that chlorophyll refuses to absorb and bounces back to our eyes.
