Cape honeysuckle flowers (the hair)
Cape honeysuckle is not a honeysuckle at all; it comes from southern Africa, where sunbirds hover at its orange tubes for nectar.
Orange blossoms stand for energy and playfulness.

Printed and framed to order, ready to hang when it arrives. Printed on premium luster paper with rich color and fine detail, protected behind a clear acrylic front, and set in a solid wood frame: White (gallery white), Black (matte black) or Red Oak (warm wood).
Printed to order on thick matte paper, shipped rolled for your own frame. We use 189 gsm (10.3 mil) matte paper with a smooth, glare-free finish and archival inks. It ships rolled in a sturdy cardboard tube, may hold a slight curl, and flattens overnight under a book. It fits any standard frame of that size. Prefer it framed? Choose Framed above for a solid wood frame in White, Black or Red Oak.
Available in 10″×10″ and 16″×16″.
Hanging hardware is included. These measurements refer to the print size. The wood frame adds about 0.75″ on each side, so the framed piece is roughly 1.5″ wider and taller than the print.
For unframed prints, the selected size is the paper size and fits a standard frame of that size. A frame adds about 1 inch on each side.
“Every leaf, twig, petal, and seed becomes a brushstroke.”
Nothing begins within a frame. Everything I create is born from freedom: the freedom to wander, to dream, to observe, to imagine, and to remain open to the unexpected. Nature has taught me not to hold on too tightly, not to force, but to trust the creative journey and allow each piece to find its own moment in the world. When an artwork finally arrives in a frame on your wall, it carries all of that freedom with it.

The Botanicals Behind the Artwork
Shirley arranged each leaf, pod, stem, and natural fiber by hand before photographing the finished composition.
Cape honeysuckle is not a honeysuckle at all; it comes from southern Africa, where sunbirds hover at its orange tubes for nectar.
Orange blossoms stand for energy and playfulness.
A mandarin peels easily because its skin is loosely attached, a gift that made it a favorite lunchbox fruit.
Citrus stands for freshness and bright spirits.
Leeks are blanched white by heaping soil around them as they grow, and the leek is the national emblem of Wales.
Leek stands for resilience and quiet strength.
Heart-shaped leaves are wide at the base to catch as much light as possible in the shade.
A heart leaf stands for love and kindness.
Rhoeo leaves are green on top and purple underneath, and its tiny white flowers hide inside boat-shaped bracts, which is why it is called Moses-in-the-cradle.
Strong leaves stand for support and grounding.
Rub a scented geranium leaf and it smells of rose or lemon, thanks to tiny oil glands on the surface.
Geranium means friendship and good cheer.
Small round leaves lose less water than big flat ones, which helps many plants stay fresh in hot, sunny places.
Small leaves stand for new growth.
Dark petals are packed with extra pigment, which soaks up more sunlight and can make the flower a little warmer.
A red petal stands for love and warmth.
Butterflies taste with their feet, so a leaf they land on is also a leaf they sample.
A butterfly stands for change and lightness.
