Printed on premium luster paper with rich color and fine detail, protected behind a clear acrylic front, and set in a wood frame. Choose White, Black, or Red Oak.
Size & fit

These measurements refer to the print size. The wood frame adds about 0.75″ on each side, so the framed piece is roughly 1.5″ wider and taller than the print.

This piece was born as a variation on the one before it, simply playing with hair, like the braids of the African women I lived among for quite some time.

Shirley arranged each leaf, pod, stem, and natural fiber by hand before photographing the finished composition.
Flame vine and yellow bells (the braids)
Both flowers are trumpet-shaped cousins, built long and narrow for the same hovering visitors.
Braided trumpets are songs woven together.
Seed pods and berries (woven through)
Pods and berries are the plant's finished sentences, whole seasons packed into small shells.
Seeds in the hair carry the future close.
Tabebuia seed eyes
Tabebuia seeds come with two papery wings, so even the eyes of this portrait were built to fly.
Winged seeds for eyes: a gaze already traveling.
Green leaf collar
A fresh leaf's V shape follows its central vein, the leaf's own backbone and water line.
