Strawberries
Strawberries wear their seeds on the outside, and each of those tiny dots is technically its own fruit.
Strawberries symbolize sweetness, purity and abundance.

“Every leaf, twig, petal, and seed becomes a brushstroke.”
Nothing begins within a frame. Everything I create is born from freedom: the freedom to wander, to dream, to observe, to imagine, and to remain open to the unexpected.
Nature has taught me not to hold on too tightly, not to force, but to trust the creative journey and allow each piece to find its own moment in the world. When an artwork finally arrives in a frame on your wall, it carries all of that freedom with it.

The Botanicals Behind the Artwork
Shirley arranged each leaf, pod, stem, and natural fiber by hand before photographing the finished composition.
Strawberries wear their seeds on the outside, and each of those tiny dots is technically its own fruit.
Strawberries symbolize sweetness, purity and abundance.
Cornflower blue is so pure and true that the flower gave its exact name to a shade of blue.
Cornflower stands for hope, devotion and a wish granted.
Strawberry plants spread by sending out runners, tiny arms that root new plantlets nearby.
The leaves signify foresight and modest completeness.
A leaf skeleton is the plumbing left behind after the soft green tissue rots away, all veins and no fill.
A leaf skeleton represents memory and delicate endurance.
Ranunculus packs so many tissue-thin petals that one bloom can hide over a hundred layers.
Ranunculus means radiant charm and attractiveness.
Thorns are a plant's cheap security system, discouraging nibblers with a sharp point and no reward.
Thorned branches symbolize protection and hard-won beauty.
