Eucalyptus bark (the body)
The pale inner layers of a stem are young wood, cells that once ferried water up from the roots.
Wood stands for strength, patience, and grounding.

Printed and framed to order, ready to hang when it arrives. Printed on premium luster paper with rich color and fine detail, protected behind a clear acrylic front, and set in a solid wood frame: White (gallery white), Black (matte black) or Red Oak (warm wood).
Printed to order on thick matte paper, shipped rolled for your own frame. We use 189 gsm (10.3 mil) matte paper with a smooth, glare-free finish and archival inks. It ships rolled in a sturdy cardboard tube, may hold a slight curl, and flattens overnight under a book. It fits any standard frame of that size. Prefer it framed? Choose Framed above for a solid wood frame in White, Black or Red Oak.
Available in 10″×10″ and 16″×16″.
Hanging hardware is included. These measurements refer to the print size. The wood frame adds about 0.75″ on each side, so the framed piece is roughly 1.5″ wider and taller than the print.
For unframed prints, the selected size is the paper size and fits a standard frame of that size. A frame adds about 1 inch on each side.
“Every leaf, twig, petal, and seed becomes a brushstroke.”
A special affection for donkeys and for eucalyptus trees inspired this little donkey. He became one of the main characters in a children's book that I wrote and illustrated using my natural brushes, every leaf and petal a brushstroke.
He has been part of my world ever since, patient and endearing. I love the thought of him living on in a nursery or a hallway, a gentle storybook companion made of real leaves and blooms.

The Botanicals Behind the Artwork
Shirley arranged each leaf, pod, stem, and natural fiber by hand before photographing the finished composition.
The pale inner layers of a stem are young wood, cells that once ferried water up from the roots.
Wood stands for strength, patience, and grounding.
A lemon's dimpled skin is studded with tiny oil glands, which is why a single scratch releases that zingy scent.
Lemons and citrus stand for zest, freshness, and vitality.
Young eucalyptus leaves grow round and silvery, then stretch long and sickle-shaped as the tree matures.
Fresh green leaves mean growth and abundance.
Crocuses are brave enough to push up through late snow, some even flowering before winter fully lets go.
Crocus stands for cheerfulness and youthful gladness.
Globe amaranth blooms are papery little clover-balls that hold their color long after they dry.
Globe amaranth means unfading love and constancy.
A branch grows a fresh ring of wood every year, a hidden diary of good seasons and lean ones.
Branches stand for connection, family, and steadiness.
